Full speed ahead

Let's review, shall we? In the last few weeks our sweet SaJo has:

  • gotten her first two teeth;
  • started crawling; and today...
  • pulled herself to standing!

Another day, another milestone!

A busy Sunday

Sara and I started off our Sunday by visiting with my friend Julie, aka "Auntie Dude." We met for a fun breakfast at Mimi's. Poor Larry stayed home and had cereal (and did manly things like watch football and fly his simulator).

After that it was off to Grandpa and Nana Paula's house for a party to celebrate Cousin Miranda's third birthday! Everyone had a great time. Miranda enjoyed sharing her new nail polish with her little cousin, and I think Gramma Daisy relished in having her family together.

What a great day! And Happy Birthday, Miranda!

The wait is over

Yep, Sara is crawling. I've been holding back this video for a couple of days in hopes of getting a better one, but I've been pretty busy (blog entries to follow). So, I hope this one will do.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you: Sara Crawls!

Along with crawling comes, of course, lots of scenes like this:

Then she headed to her toy box...

...and so begins a whole new chapter in our little love's story...

Ten months old

In just two months our sweetie will leave her first year in the dust. This month was an especially exciting one as Baby Girl continued more and more to come into her own. The biggest development this month was, of course, that Sara finally got teeth! Her bottom two middle teeth came in together and still only stick out a millimeter or two, but they're there. Another big milestone is that Sara began self-feeding this month. I still spoon-feed most of her meals to her, but she likes to feed herself cheerios and bananas and avocados, which she has apparently decided that she likes after all. (I'm almost a little disappointed about that, because that means I have to share them.) She also likes to try feeding herself with a spoon, but I must admit that I'm not too crazy about wiping purees off the walls.

As far as crawling goes, Sara continues to make progress. She'll now crawl as many as three or four steps at a time before turning around to sit on her behind. She continues to like to mouth most things and still has a special affinity for paper. She has decided that she likes to unpack things and regularly unpacks her toy basket and her bookshelf. She's still a pretty content baby, but she has definitely figured out that there is much to be explored. In fact, this month's "birthday" photo shoot was almost impossible because she wouldn't stay still and look at the camera!

We continue to enjoy, cherish, and adore our precious gift from God. We can't wait to see what she figures out next!

You have no idea how hard it was to get these

...so I hope that if you look verrrrrrrrrrrrry closely and perhaps click on the image to enlarge it that you can see two teensy weensy teeth sticking through her bottom gums. ;)

Another milestone

NO, much to my simultaneous relief and dismay--who knew one could feel those simultaneously?--Sara is not crawling. She is very, very close to crawling and will even crawl a step or two before doing a unique pirouette or sitting on her bottom. That is as far as she has taken it, though. I keep expecting her to take off any day, but it hasn't happened yet.

What HAS happened, though? Baby Girl has not one but TWO teeth that have broken through on the bottom! They're still almost impossible to see to the naked eye, but they are quite easily felt. Yep, my little toothless wonder will not be toothless much longer! As soon as they sprout enough to show on camera, I'll be sure to post a picture.

Family Vacation

We just got back from our last big trailer trip of the summer! We spent five days up in Shaver Lake (Sierra Nevada mountains) with my entire family plus a couple of Alex's friends and their families. What a wonderful time was had by all! Sara loved all the attention from her family, and Larry and I enjoyed the extra pairs of hands! The scenery, weather, and water were all lovely.

We rented a boat for the weekend and enjoyed going to different inlets to lounge in the water, fish (but not catch), and explore. I have been to Shaver Lake many times in my life, but I never tire of it. It's just so beautiful, and the weather cannot be beat!
